Why CEPAT

Built from experience, not just ideas.

CEPAT was never intended to be just another PAT testing system. It was created from years of practical experience managing complex software platforms, working within highly regulated environments and carrying out portable appliance testing on everything from office equipment to specialist entertainment systems.

The result is a platform that reflects the way professional PAT testing is actually carried out, supported by a service that understands safety, compliance, clear record keeping and protecting valuable equipment.

Founder Story

One platform shaped by real work.

Software development, regulated-industry experience and practical PAT testing all feed directly into CEPAT.

From Healthcare to PAT Testing

Regulated systems and traceable record keeping came first.

Before creating CEPAT, Eri spent many years working within the NHS delivering complex digital transformation projects, workforce management systems and operational improvements.

Working within healthcare reinforced the importance of compliance, traceability, accurate record keeping and building systems that people actually want to use. Those same principles now shape every part of CEPAT, from digital certificates and asset management through to clear professional documentation.

Building Software Around Real Work

Good software should remove friction, not add to it.

Having developed multiple business platforms, including Planellio for the events industry and Mandatrax for workforce management, the goal with CEPAT was always to build software around practical workflows rather than unnecessary complexity.

Whether managing assets, recording inspection history or issuing digital certificates, CEPAT has been designed to support the way professional PAT testers actually work in the field.

Portable Appliance Testing Experience

Software knowledge backed by formal PAT training and practical inspection work.

Software experience alone is not enough to understand the realities of portable appliance testing. To gain practical knowledge and experience, Eri completed formal Portable Appliance Testing training and continues to develop that knowledge through practical testing, industry guidance and ongoing learning.

He also works closely with qualified electricians within his professional network, making it possible to discuss more complex electrical situations, share knowledge and keep the overall approach aligned with current best practice.

A Lifetime Around Electrical Work

Early exposure built lasting respect for electrical safety and workmanship.

Electrical work has always been familiar territory. Growing up around the trade helped develop an appreciation for electrical systems, safe working practices and the importance of doing things properly.

That early exposure was not treated as a substitute for professional training, but it did help shape the interest that later led to formal PAT testing training, real inspection work and the eventual creation of CEPAT.

Specialists in Event Equipment

A more informed approach to sensitive entertainment systems.

Alongside developing CEPAT, Eri also owns Cramer Events, an established events company supplying professional entertainment equipment throughout the South East. That creates experience many PAT testing companies simply do not have.

Equipment such as DJ controllers, digital mixers, thermal photo booth printers, DSLR cameras, electronic flash units, intelligent lighting and LED dance floors often require a more considered approach than standard office appliances. Every appliance is assessed individually so the most appropriate testing methods can be selected while still protecting sensitive electronic components and following manufacturer recommendations where applicable.

More Than Just Testing

Professional PAT testing should be practical as well as compliant.

Portable appliance testing is about more than applying a label to an appliance. Where appropriate, inspections also include functional testing so equipment can be powered and checked for correct operation.

Minor issues such as damaged plugs, incorrectly wired plug tops, worn fuses and other straightforward faults can often be rectified during the visit where it is safe and appropriate to do so. Where larger defects are identified, clear recommendations are provided together with professional digital documentation.

Why CEPAT Exists

The platform evolves through the testing work, and the testing work benefits from the platform.

CEPAT exists because there was a better way to manage portable appliance testing. Many systems focus purely on producing certificates. CEPAT was built to combine professional record keeping, modern cloud software, digital asset management and real inspection experience.

The software continues to evolve alongside the testing service, which means improvements come from genuine field use rather than assumptions. Every inspection helps improve the platform, and every improvement to the platform supports future inspections.
